Instructions in ang.

Choose all 10 radio scanner enthusiasts and ask them what features they consider necessary in their ideal radio scanner. Most would consider military and civilian aviation frequencies, meteorological channels and amateur bands. CB, FRS and GMRS frequency coverage is considered to be added bonuses.

If you want it in an ideal scanner, the Uniden BC125AT fits into the profile almost perfectly with the additional advantage that it won't cost you much to get it.

Many users of the unit said a lot of nice things about it. They praise their ability to quickly browse channels, sensitivity and the fact that it's easy to program them. One of the usual critors is the wrong antenna.

Are these characteristics of Bearcat BC125AT Uniyen true? This check, deconstruction of the function and performance of the device, should help you make decisions.

Look

The appearance of the device looks solid. In fact, it also feels tight when you hold it, although the case is made of plastic. The radio is unlikely to make a big drop.

You would immediately notice a large LCD screen that can display your alpha marker, mode, PL tone, frequency, signal force meter, mode. It looks quite a lot, but the large size of the display ensures a comfortable attachment of all these indicators.

Unfortunately, even if you can turn off the backlight, there is no button or button to mute if you wish to save juice from the battery.

The buttons on the keyboard are large, soft and well positioned. When you press them, you get a pleasant tactile feeling, and the https layout makes it easy to remember the location of the buttons.

The battery compartment is located at the back and bottom of the scanner. The radio is easy to reach with sliding doors that fit firmly into place.

Inside the battery compartment is a switch to select the type of battery you want to use. You are limited to alkaline or rechargeable AA batteries.

This switch is important to avoid charging alkaline batteries when the radio is plugged into a power supply or connected to a USB. However, you should remember that you always switch the switch to the correct position.

Programming Uniden BC125AT

Programming the scanner should not present any difficulties, since the software is quite intuitive and easy to use. However, some users complain that they are wasting their time working properly.

Combining the section of the manual and support on the Uniden website should help you get around the driver problem in less than 20 minutes.

The software is available for free download from the Uniden site. And unless you insert frequencies with long alpha tags manually, it's quick and easy using programming software. It would take about 15 minutes to hand.

Uniden BC125AT update: important features

Alpha Tagging – If you've never used this feature, it would be a pleasant discovery for you.

With 500 channels, their organizing can be lengthy without alpha. This feature allows you to organize channels in any way. For example, you can assign special names to each channel and then categorize them by location, department, area of interest, and so on.

When they occur, you might add different tags to make it easier to track who you're listening to.

Close RF Capture call/close DND call - two functions work together to ensure you get the best reception at any time. While RFF Close Call Capture tracks and tunes the nearest signal, DND Close Call prevents other transmitters from being interrupted.

DND would continue to check signals if you are not actively connected to the signal or channel on the scanner. In principle, functions ensure that transmission is never interrupted.

Temporary lock - this function ranks dnd as one of the most common features of the BC125AT model. Due to the absence of a damping function on the radio, you can temporarily or permanently block the active frequency.

Press once to temporarily block the frequency. To permanently lock it, you must press the button twice in a row.

Other features

Emergency warning mode scans the weather

The direct access feature gives users easy access to any channel

Narrow band compatibility

Built-in automatic service Searches in 10 default zones: police, fire/emergency services, ham, shipping, rail, civil air, military air, clock radio, FRS/GMRS/MURS/and racing games.

Delay function to check how long the radio stops at the end of the transmission

Self-search range for up to 10 different frequency ranges

Uniden BC125AT scanner performance

Sound - The sound is pretty excellent with a clean tone. It's loud enough to hear traffic noises in a busy area. But a small distortion in sound quality has noticed that the volume increases completely up. You're just doing a little good.

Battery - The jury still does not have enough battery power. Some say they would power the unit for several days with extensive use. Others, however, are not impressed. The truth lies somewhere in between and depends on how much you use it.

You may need to pack additional batteries to keep them on the safe side.

The low battery warning lights up when the batteries are low. You'll get about 2 minutes of beeps to let you know that you need to change the power supply before the scanner turns off automatically.

Receiver - In general, whether in vhf or uhf bands, the scanner does well when it comes to pulling signals. It also does very well in receiving signals from civilian and military air zones without too much interference due to its ability to eliminate disruptive RF.

However, you may want to use a better antenna because it is not supplied by a stock rubber antenna for weak signals from miles away.

Pros

Easy switching from Mil-Air to maritime, police, maritime, civilian, etc.

Compact and excellent for universal monitoring

Contains 500 channels

It has both civilian and military groups

It comes with Alpha labeling

Has priority scanning with DND

Close Cal RF Capture with DND

Cons

Battery life isn't great

It can only receive analog signals

Emergency radios

Conclusion

Uniden BC125AT is a small compact analog radio scanner that can easily fit in your pocket. It is excellent for tracking civilian, military and air zones.

With radio of this size and price, the performance is amazing and after programming it would be easy for you to use it. With free software that you can get from the Uniden website, this should not be difficult.

You may want to invest in a better antenna if you want your experience with the device to be worth the investment. However, if the target transmitters are close, the basic antenna would do it nicely.
